The Life and Times of Glendalough Mines DVD
Glendalough is renowned for both its beautiful scenery and its association with St. Kevin. However, the Glendalough and Glendasan valleys also boast a rich mining history. Up to as recently as 1957, miners were employed to extract lead and zinc from the mineral-rich rock formations.
For the first time on DVD, many of these miners collectively recall their memories of working in the mines. Featuring interviews with local people, a geology expert and a mining historian, the documentary takes us on a journey from the early mine workings in the 1800s up until the final closure in the late 1950s. The DVD presents a balanced view of the life and times of the Glendalough mines.
